Stop Outsourcing Your Child’s Eternity

Stop Outsourcing Your Child’s Eternity

“Stop outsourcing your child’s Salvation”
What do I mean?
.
Sunday school, VBS, and Christian education are all incredible, but absolutely nothing can replace the daily learning and modeling of Christ that we are called to show to our children.
.
POINTING OUR CHILDREN TO JESUS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB WE HAVE.
.
We can have the most kind, well mannered, successful, and capable children in the world, but if they don’t choose Salvation, then none of that matters.
and…
.
And we can BE the most kind, well mannered, successful, and capable MOTHERS in the world, but if our daily lives, actions, and words are void of eternal perspective and obedience, our children won’t want a faith that we never proved to be true.
So now what?
Know this…
.
First, if you are Saved by Jesus’ blood, then you are equipped to teach your children about God. Second, do it. Every day, at every opportunity.
.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:6-9
.
Show your kids that God is worth showing up for. Go to church and serve there, even when it’s inconvenient.
Show your kids that God deserves our obedience. Quit listening to and watching things that promote sin.
.
Show your kids that God wants to spend time with them. Put down your phone and read your Bible.
.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:22-25
 .
The list goes on, and it’s seemingly simple. But it all lands on this one premise… Am I actively and genuinely making sure my children know God, or am I hoping that they’ll be exposed to it somewhere else?
.
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:14-15
.
Sweet friend, you are EQUIPPED FOD GOOD WORK. But not because of yourself. Because of the good and perfect work that GOD has done. Don’t miss an opportunity to tell your children about the MOST IMPORTANT THING. Don’t assume they’re too young, too distracted, or too busy. Make time.. eternity is coming.
.
What are some ways you can find JOY in your eternity and model that for your children?
.
Take opportunities to be interrupted for the better thing- teach them what God expects of us (patience, kind worlds, etc) in an age-appropriate way, and make sure you’re modeling it yourself.
.
”I’m sorry I got upset so quickly over that driver in front of us. I’m going to practice being slow to anger because I know that honors God. Want to practice that with me”
.
We don’t have to overcomplicate it, but we do have to make sure that we aren’t being hypocritical. The Lord has given you everything you need to do the job He’s given you. Lean on Him as you parent His kiddos.
